Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I have a dental emergency?

Not all dental issues constitute a dental emergency. These appointments are primarily reserved for those painful situations that include: broken teeth, toothaches, abscesses, trauma, and the like.

Dental concerns such as a lost filling or a chipped tooth are not usually considered dental emergencies unless, of course, you are in a lot of pain.

What will happen on my first visit?

Our professional team is always welcoming new patients. We understand how important it is for you to feel comfortable with your dentist in order to better your oral health - and maintain it. On your first visit, we will discuss your health history, past dental experiences, and any related anxieties you may have. Our goal is to take the time to get to know you so that we may provide you with the dental treatment and services that can enhance your experience.

During your visit, x-rays will be taken so we can thoroughly examine your oral health. And a periodontal exam will follow to examine your gum health. If there are no major issues, a preventative cleaning will come next. Finally, the dentist will discuss any treatment you need - and your options for it.

You will want to reserve about 90 minutes for your first visit.

What is an Intraoral Camera?

An Intraoral Camera is small enough that it can easily project your tooth or teeth onto a screen so that you can view them, too. As your dentist is discussing any dental concerns or treatment options, this visual helps you to gain a better understanding.

At Dental Wellness Team, we love to use our Intraoral Camera as it is our way of including you in the examination process. Not only are we able to see hard-to-each areas of your mouth, but you can, too!

Do you offer sedation services?

Yes, we absolutely offer sedation services. We want our patients to be comfortable and relaxed for their dental procedures. We also understand that dental fear sometimes makes this difficult. Therefore, we offer both oral sedation and laughing gas. Each offers you the ability to move forward with protecting your oral health while reducing your anxiety.

Before your dental procedure we can discuss the best option for you based on your medical history and preference.

Are dental services for children available?

A Dental Wellness Team, we treat patients from age 5 and up. We offer dentistry for children, including dental checkups and routine cleanings, protective dental sealants, fluoride treatment, natural-looking fillings, space maintainers, and more. We also provide laughing gas for children who are nervous.

The level of comfort and treatment received by children at the dentist sets the foundation for their future oral health. That is why we work to provide compassionate and comfortable patient care that will make the visit enjoyable.
